Quick and easy homemade buns ready in under an hour that are soft and fluffy.
Quick and fast homemade soft buns

If anyone else is like me in never planning meals far in advance and just going to the fridge and freezer to see what you can come up with for a meal, you will invariably want burgers or grilled chicken sandwiches and realize you have no buns.

This is the perfect remedy for that problem our family faces almost on a weekly basis! These buns are ready in less than an hour (the more you make them, the more proficient you’ll become as well (it takes me only 30 minutes from start to finish now), and they are soft and fluffy rather than dense and chewy like other quick breads I have made in the past.

Quick and fast homemade soft buns

These buns really are one of the best homemade bun recipes I’ve used and they are much quicker than any other recipe as well. Hope you enjoy!

  • 2 egg yolks
  • 2 Tbsp milk

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F
  2. In a large mixing bowl add the warm water and gently whisk the yeast into the water
  3. Add sugar and oil and let rest for 5 minutes
  4. Add the egg and salt to the bowl
  5. Slowly add the flour to the mixture while continually mixing until all flour is added and dough is uniform
  6. Either grease two baking sheets or line them with parchment paper
  7. Remove dough from bowl onto floured surface and knead for several minutes

  11. Prepare the egg wash by beating egg yolks and milk together
  12. Brush on the egg wash to the balls of dough after letting them rise, sprinkle on sesame seeds, and bake 12-14 minutes until golden brown but still spongy
