A twist on a Christmas cookie favorite with a classic Christmas flavor is a must-have staple for your dessert table this season!
ingredients:
- 1 cup granulated white sugar
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/3 cup squeezed orange juice
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup AP flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Powdered sugar (to top)
- Orange zest (to top)
instructions:
- In one bowl, sift together cocoa powder and sugar. Then stir in the orange juice.
- Beat in the eggs until just combined and smooth.
- In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Add and stir this mixture into the cocoa powder mix until just combined and smooth. The dough will be a little sticky and runny.
- Cover the dough and refrigerate ideally overnight. If not, chill for at least a couple of hours.
- Heat oven to 350.
- Scoop chilled dough and form a ball. Place into bowl of powdered sugar and coat well. Place on a greased baking sheet.
- Spread dough balls evenly a couple of inches away from each other.
- Bake for 12 minutes. Remove and let cool.
- Place a sheet of wax paper on a flat surface.
- Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl for 20 seconds at a time and stir until smooth. Dip one half of each cookie into the melted chocolate and place onto wax paper.
- Immediately sprinkle the orange zest onto the melted chocolate.
- Let cool and enjoy!
